Carol Schwennesen

Carol Schwennesen has an MFA in painting from Claremont Graduate University, a BFA in painting and drawing from Western Washington University, and BAs in studio art and art history from Western Washington University. Since then, she has taught studio and art history, and has had shows all over California and Washington state.

She applies her paint in layers, creating a rich texture that makes the light seem denser and more tangible. Her work has a wonderful sense of color as well, from the subtle palettes of the landscapes, to the glowy brights of the ladders. Schwennesen conveys a sense of atmospheric space in these simple compositions.
